The size for this particular pattern is 6-9 months
Hello friends! I wanted to create an easy crochet pattern that doesn’t take a lot of time and effort to make and I think I’ve done it. This pattern has the same number of stitches in each row with easy peasy ties to secure on baby’s head. Only two rows of bobbles will make this a breeze.
Materials need for this pattern:
- Medium weight yarn #4
- Crochet hook F-3.75 mm
- Yarn needle
The yarn I used in this pattern is Ferris Wheel from Lion Brand Yarns. The color is called Morning Java. It’s super soft and perfect for a baby hat.
Crochet stitches used in this crochet pattern:
- sc=single crochet
- hdc=half double crochet
- sl=slip stitch
The Bobble Stitch
This isn’t a typical bobble stitch you would normally find in a crochet pattern. But i think it works well for this one and is easy to do once you get the hang of it!
Bobble stitch: This is all worked into one stitch. Insert hook into the stitch, pull up a loop, *( yarn over insert hook, pull up a loop,) do this * three times total You should have 8 loops on hook, yarn over and pull through all 8 loops. Done! You are ready for your next stitch.
The beginning chain in each new row is not counted as a stitch.
My finished hat measures from top to bottom 6.75 inches, front to back 6 inches.
To make it smaller use a smaller hook, to make it a little bigger use a bigger hook.
Bobble Pixie Baby Hat
This pattern is for baby size 6-9 months. (head circumference 17-18 inches)
Start with a chain of 53
Row 1: starting in 2nd chain from hook, hdc across, chain 1 and turn (52 hdc)
Row 2: sc in first stitch, (*bo in next stitch, sc in next 2 stitches) repeat (*) across ending with sc in last stitch, ch 1 and turn (17 bobbles, 34 sc)
Row 3: hdc in each stitch across, ch 1, turn
Row 4: repeat row 2
Row 5: hdc in each stitch across, ch 1, turn (52 hdc)
Row 6-19: repeat row 5
Do not fasten off yet! Single crochet both ends of your hat together after folding it in half with right side together as shown below. You’ll end up in the inside tip of your pixie hat. Fasten off.
Attach your yarn at the right side of your hat corner, the opposite side of where you started your hat.
*Chain 50 for the first tie strand. Going back down your chain: skip one chain and sc in each ch stitch.*
Next you’ll sc evenly across the neck part of the hat (bottom)(I came up with 42 sc)
When you have reached the next corner of hat, here is where you’ll crochet the next tie strand. Repeat between the *chain 50. Sl into corner of hat to secure tie.
Fasten off and weave in ends!
To make it look even more darling, add a pom pom to the tip of your pixie hat!
